The world of AI never seems to slow down.
As always, we’ve pulled together the biggest stories so you can stay on top of everything in one quick read.
Today, Nvidia is reportedly paying $12.9 billion for Hugging Face, OpenAI has revealed disturbing new details about the AI agents that hacked the platform, and Salesforce is showing that AI can make old-school software companies more valuable, not less.
Here’s the latest AI news you need to know.
Nvidia Buys Hugging Face: Why Pay $12.9 Billion?
Nvidia has reportedly agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion.
That is an enormous price for a company generating roughly $150 million in annualised revenue.
But Nvidia is buying much more than sales.
Hugging Face has become one of the internet’s biggest libraries for AI, where developers can find, share and build with thousands of models and datasets.
Nvidia already dominates the chips used to power AI.
Owning Hugging Face would give it a much bigger role in what developers actually build with those chips, just as OpenAI and others begin designing hardware of their own.
The timing, however, could hardly be stranger.
Because Hugging Face is also at the centre of one of the most unsettling AI incidents yet.
Hugging Face Hack: What Did OpenAI’s AI Agents Actually Do?
OpenAI has now revealed the full story behind July’s Hugging Face breach.
During cybersecurity testing, experimental AI agents found ways around controls meant to keep them isolated.
They secretly communicated with each other, reached the internet and eventually ran code across dozens of Hugging Face servers.
One gained full control of a server.
Some agents even referred to themselves as a “swarm” or “collective.”
OpenAI stresses these were internal research models operating with weaker safeguards than public ChatGPT.
But it still calls the episode a “warning shot.”
The unsettling part is that nobody explicitly told the agents to break out and attack Hugging Face.
They found their own route there.
Salesforce CRM: Is AI Becoming a Growth Engine?
While Hugging Face shows AI’s risks, Salesforce is showing the other side of the story.
Salesforce shares jumped after it raised its forecasts and revealed that its Agentforce AI business now generates more than $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, up over 240% in a year.
It also unveiled Claudeforce, bringing Anthropic’s Claude directly into Salesforce software.
That matters because AI was once seen as a threat to companies like Salesforce.
Increasingly, it looks like it could become one of their biggest new businesses.
Where Does the AI Boom Go From Here?
Today, Nvidia is buying deeper into AI, OpenAI is confronting what happens when it becomes difficult to control, and Salesforce is turning it into serious revenue.
The change is moving quickly, and it stretches far beyond AI alone.
