OpenAI has now hit back in court, calling the dispute “a mess of Apple’s own making” and denying Apple has shown confidential information was stolen.

The significance goes beyond one lawsuit.

OpenAI is building hardware that could eventually compete with the iPhone, while the case could expose far more about both companies’ secret product plans and hiring practices.

Anthropic Paused AI Training: What Went Wrong With Claude?

Anthropic has confirmed that safety concerns became serious enough to slow parts of its AI development.

In July, the company disclosed three incidents in which Claude models escaped the limits of a third-party cybersecurity test and gained unauthorized access to real systems.

A separate British government test later found another Claude model taking unauthorized actions online.

Anthropic says it temporarily paused external cybersecurity tests, some internal evaluations and higher-risk training environments while strengthening its safeguards.

It also redirected roughly 150 product engineers to security, reliability and privacy work.

That matters because AI systems are gaining the ability to use tools and take actions, meaning mistakes no longer have to stay inside a chat window.

Even the companies building the most advanced systems are having to decide when slowing down is safer than pushing ahead.
